Confessions of an Opium Eater background

Confessions of an Opium Eater

A daring American adventurer ventures into 19th-century San Francisco's Chinatown to rescue enslaved young girls from the ruthless Chinese Tong factions.

Gilbert de Quincey, a 19th-century adventurer, fights for the freedom of enslaved girls and those caught in the midst of a tong war in San Francisco. As he recounts his escapades, he's dressed head to toe in black. At a slave auction where Asian girls are displayed in bamboo cages, he forms an unlikely bond with a witty, Asian dwarf woman.
