Barton Fink, a successful playwright, is lured to Hollywood to write scripts for Capitol Pictures. However, his first screenplay is a wrestling movie, and he develops writer's block. He seeks inspiration from his neighbors, an insurance salesman and a secretary, to meet the deadline and overcome his artistic bankruptcy.
