In 18th-century Minas Gerais, a Portuguese nobleman, João Fernandes de Oliveira, arrives with a royal contract to mine diamonds. He takes control, exposing corruption among local authorities. Meanwhile, Xica, a slave with exceptional charm and a powerful sexual allure, captivates João and is showered with luxury, as miners risk their lives for his greed.
