In the film, a former Lufthansa steward, who is HIV-positive, returns to Rio with a film crew to search for a young man he had a one-night stand with. The young man had left a cryptic message on the bathroom mirror, leading Frank on a quest to find him. Along the way, Frank and his director enlist the help of a charming hustler to track down the elusive Mario, who always seems to be one step ahead. Their search takes them to the Via Appia district, a notorious area in Rio known for its male prostitution.
