In 1996, a transatlantic ship's Filipino sailor, Joel, discovers a stowaway, Dumitru, hiding between containers on the open sea. If spotted by the Taiwanese officers, Dumitru risks being thrown overboard. Joel decides to hide him, driven by his faith in God. As a cat and mouse game unfolds, Joel's crew, friends, and even God turn against him, leaving him to face his fate alone.
