The Tramps New World background

The Tramps New World

In a post-Hiroshima world, a writer's imagination brings forth a dystopian New York where the Tramp, Charlie Chaplin's beloved character, builds a harmonious community in the ruins of Central Park.

In the late 1940s, writer James Agee, disillusioned by Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings and anti-communist witch-hunts, wrote a screenplay, "The Tramp's New World", inspired by Charlie Chaplin's humor and grace. The film follows Agee as he writes the screenplay, bringing his ideas to life through his imagination.
