In a New York apartment, eight drug addicts await their next fix. A young filmmaker, Jim Dunn, offers to pay for their drugs in exchange for capturing the connection on film. After the addicts receive their dose, they convince Dunn to try heroin to better understand the subject. However, he becomes ill and while sleeping, one of the addicts, Leach, takes an overdose, falling into a coma.
