The Barefoot Battalion background

The Barefoot Battalion

A former orphan recounts the incredible feats of the "Barefoot Battalion", a group of 160 orphaned boys who bravely supported the French Resistance during WWII.

In a poverty-stricken post-World War II Thessaloniki, a young man named Dimitris catches a street urchin named Stavros stealing a wallet. Instead of turning him in, Dimitris decides to help the boy and shares the story of the "Barefoot Battalion", a group of disciplined orphans who stole from German trucks to aid the Resistance and impoverished townspeople during the occupation.
