Tai ping tian guo background

Tai ping tian guo

In rural Taiwan of the 1960s, the arrival of Uncle Sam's tanks sparks a joint military exercise with Taiwanese forces, but the villagers' concerns and doubts gradually take over the spotlight.

In rural Taiwan in the late 1960s, the village's quiet life is disrupted when Uncle Sam's tanks arrive, sparking joint military exercises with Taiwanese troops. However, the villagers take matters into their own hands, stealing everything they can carry. The film's writer and director, Wu Nien-jen, masterfully balances a comedic tone, as the main character, Brain, initially condemns theft but turns against the Americans when they mistake him for a beggar.
