Sword of the Avenger

In 1827, the Philippines, Robert Balagtas is wrongly accused by a jealous rival and sent to prison without a trial. After his escape, he discovers a hidden treasure and returns to Manila as a wealthy man. He uses his newfound wealth to help the oppressed native population, who have suffered under Spanish rule for too long. Eventually, his past is uncovered by the authorities, but he exposes their corruption and lives happily ever after with Maria Louise.
