A young boy witnesses his father's death at the hands of a skilled martial arts master, prompting him to enroll in a Shaolin monastery to learn kung fu and avenge his father's death. Despite initially struggling, Jackie befriends various Shaolin Masters and masters different fighting styles, eventually becoming skilled enough to take on the "wooden men" - a traditional test of Shaolin warriors. As he gains confidence, Jackie uses his newfound abilities to defend himself and others, ultimately demonstrating humility and compassion.
