Murphy seeks revenge against the outlaws who killed his friend, the sheriff, and kidnapped a local girl. As he tracks them down, he's joined by a posse of townspeople, but they eventually abandon him, except for a timid banker named Saxon, who wants to prove himself. When they find the girl, Murphy shows compassion and understanding, while the others are repulsed by her condition.
