Jake Truman, a regular guy, inherits a mysterious map at his grandfather's funeral with the word "Monkeyshine" written across it. Assuming it's a practical joke, Jake's office colleagues mock him for his supposed pirate fantasies. However, a coworker's keen observation reveals the map's true name, leading Jake on a journey to uncover its secrets. Along the way, he must confront his true self and desires to become the modern-day pirate his family has always been.
