In a not-too-distant future, a leftist writer named Paula travels to the French town of Atlantic-Cité after learning of the death of her former colleague and lover, Richard P. Upon her arrival, she becomes entangled in a web of mystery and intrigue, where nothing is as it seems. Despite the town's seemingly idyllic appearance, with its beautiful faces, vibrant colors, and trendy fashion, Paula soon discovers that things are not as clear-cut as they appear. Corpses begin to pile up, and ideological struggles come to the forefront, threatening to obscure the truth. As Paula navigates this complex landscape, she must confront the possibility that her own motivations may be unclear, and that life itself may be shrouded in uncertainty.
