Looks and Smiles

Set against the backdrop of Thatcherism and the Irish Troubles, the film follows Mick, a young man from Sheffield, as he navigates his uncertain future. With no expectations to fall back on, Mick struggles to find work and build a life for himself. His best friend Alan takes a different path, joining the army to fix tanks and serving in Belfast. Meanwhile, Mick meets Karen, a young woman who works at a shoe shop and is dealing with her own family issues. As Mick and Karen grow closer, they must confront the challenges of adulthood and the uncertain future that lies ahead.
