Childhood friends Derrick and Tico, high school dropouts, run a concession stand at the Statue of Liberty's foot. Tico's goals are limited to collecting paychecks and phone numbers, while Derrick aspires for a college-educated future. However, the World Trade Center terrorist attack derails Derrick's plans and sets off a chain of personal struggles for both friends.
