Two Oxford brothers, Roy and Monte Rutledge, join the RAF when World War I begins. While Roy is driven by strong moral values, Monte is a free-spirited womanizer who struggles with his Night Patrol duties. The brothers volunteer for a perilous two-man bombing mission, with Monte seeking to redeem his cowardly reputation and Roy trying to protect his brother. Their successful attack on a German munitions facility is followed by a dire escape from a squadron of fighter planes.
