A young man from the Bay Area sets out on a journey of self-discovery on New Year's Eve, grappling with the complexities of his relationships and the individuals he meets along the way.

Oscar, a 22-year-old Bay Area resident, awakens on December 31, 2008, sensing a change in the air. He resolves to improve his relationships with his mother, girlfriend, and 4-year-old daughter T, but soon realizes that change is difficult. As he interacts with friends, family, and strangers, Oscar's complexities are revealed. A fateful encounter with police officers at the Fruitvale BART station ultimately makes Oscar's story a national phenomenon.
