Kristin Parson, a struggling clothes designer, leaves her disappointing life in LA with her 9-year-old daughter Emily to return to her hometown. Emily is unhappy about the move, but their aunt Sarah's diner and Kristin's old room provide a sense of comfort. With the help of her high school crush, now a single music teacher, Danny Collier, Emily lands a late audition for the school's Christmas show and discovers her passion for singing.
