In the chaotic aftermath of the 1919 Russian Revolution, a monastery and field hospital near the Volga River are caught in the crossfire between the Bolshevik Reds and the Czarist Whites. As the conflict rages on, captives are brutally executed or forced to flee naked into the woods. Amidst the senseless violence, characters are picked off one by one, with no clear plan or strategy in sight.
