Thousands of people gathered at the Vancouver Art Gallery to support the Occupy movement on October 15, 2011. The plaza was transformed into an encampment with essential facilities, including a first-aid station, media tent, kitchen, and library. The occupation remained a media spectacle for 39 days before the occupants were forced to leave.

On October 15, 2011, a massive gathering took place at the Vancouver Art Gallery, as part of the global Occupy movement, with many setting up a temporary campsite in the plaza.
