In 1901, a 34-year-old man, Christopher Leiningen, claims thousands of acres of land in South America for a chocolate plantation. He recruits a mail-order bride, but is shocked to discover she's a widow. As they work together to save the plantation from an impending army ant invasion, Christopher's resolve to send her away begins to crack.
