The film tells the story of Paul Baroni, a New York street gang member nicknamed Monk due to his distinctive facial features. With the guidance of Father Callahan, Paul discovers a passion for boxing and achieves success. However, his insecurities about his appearance lead him to abandon his accomplishments and relationships, until a transformative event helps him reevaluate his self-perception.
