Mohamed, a 23-year-old Iraqi, flees to Syria after being threatened due to his Western appearance. He meets Jennifer, a freelance journalist from New York, who documents his life as a refugee. They form a unique friendship and embark on adventures in Damascus, creating distractions from Mohamed's uncertain situation. Jennifer returns to Brooklyn but can't forget Mohamed and decides to help him start a new life, going against advice from colleagues and loved ones.
