In 1975, a group of five men driving home from a forest job spot a mysterious blue-white light. One man, Travis Walton, investigates and is beamed aboard a flying saucer. His friends try to convince others of what happened, but no one believes them. The movie follows Travis's account of his ordeal, from being wrapped in a membrane in a hibernation chamber to his eventual escape and confrontation with the alien captors.
