The film tells the story of Nastasya Generalova, a Black Californian teenager, who was enrolled in rhythmic gymnastics by her single white Russian mother, Olga, to connect with her homeland. The movie follows Nastasya's personal journey as the only Black girl on Team USA, as well as her relationship with her mother as they navigate the stressful lead-up to Tokyo Olympics qualification.
