In 1857, a family moves into a humble home and struggles to make ends meet. Their 14-year-old daughter, Bernadette, a sickly and uneducated girl, has a profound encounter with a beautiful young woman at the Massabielle grotto. Over time, Bernadette communicates with the woman, and a spring she uncovers brings healing to those who drink from it.
