Zach Hanner was born in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, in June 1969. He grew up in nearby Pilot Mountain and spent his formative years attending the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival in High Point, where he was inspired by a young Terrance Mann's performance as Oberon in "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
