Yvette Yates was born in El Paso, Texas, and grew up in both El Paso and Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua. She attended U.C.L.A. and received a B.S. in Physiological Science, publishing in the Journal of Molecular Immunology.
As an actress, Yvette has appeared in various films, including "Inherent Vice", "Bloodsucking Bastards", "In the Blood", "El Gringo", "Without Men", "Free Ride", "Water & Power", and "Sorority Party Massacre". She has also worked on Rockstar's popular videogame "Red Dead Redemption" and Comedy Central's "The Nick Show Kroll".
Yvette has received numerous nominations and awards for her performances, including a Proclamation as a Community Ambassador from the Mayor & City Council of El Paso, naming September 26, 2012 as "YVETTE YATES DAY". She was also nominated for Best Actress in Film and Best Short at the 23rd Annual Imagen Awards and Malibu International Film Festival for her role as Lucena in the film "Niña Quebrada".
In addition to her acting career, Yvette is committed to community outreach and has participated in discussions and panels in high schools, synagogues, churches, theatre groups, the El Paso film commission, community colleges, and UTEP. She has served as a judge for the local Boyle Heights' Film Festival "Reel Rasquache Film and Art Festival" and has been involved with the Plaza Classic Film Festival.
Yvette has also been involved in various charitable events, including the National Museum of Mexican Art's "Gala de Art" in May 2014, which raised over $600,000 for the museum's exhibitions and educational programs. She has also served as Mistress of Ceremony for Congregation B'nai Zion's Eleventh Annual Sephardic Anusim Conference and CEREMONY for the dedication of The Sephardic Anusim Cultural Heritage Center in the Holocaust Museum in El Paso, TX.
