Bill VanDerKloot's career has been a remarkable four-decade-long journey, encompassing a diverse array of film genres, including short films, broadcast commercials, television documentaries, and theatrical features.
Throughout his illustrious career, VanDerKloot has traveled the world, creating films that delve into a wide range of topics, from public sculpture to political history, from southern blues to environmental science. His impressive body of work has garnered over one hundred international awards, including prestigious accolades such as Emmy Awards and the George Foster Peabody Award.
One of VanDerKloot's most notable productions is the Atlanta Olympic Film, Time and Dreams, which played a significant role in securing the bid to host the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. He has also produced special video installations for prominent institutions, including the Carter Presidential Museum and Library, the Columbus Museum, and the Special Collections Library at the University of Georgia.
Bill VanDerKloot has directed hundreds of commercial and branded content projects for a wide range of clients, including CNN, Delta Air Lines, Cox Enterprises, Coca-Cola, McKesson, Chick-fil-A, US Marine Corps, and Porsche, to name a few. His work has been showcased on various platforms, including PBS, National Geographic, Turner Broadcasting, CNN, HBO, Showtime, as well as iTunes, Amazon, and Netflix.
VanDerKloot is also the creator of the award-winning Little Mammoth children's programs, The BIG Adventure SeriesĀ®, which have been licensed in over 30 countries worldwide. The latest episode in the series was released in 2018.
Based in Atlanta, VanDerKloot founded Magick Lantern in 1990, a video post-production house and digital production studio that served the film and television industry. He sold the studio in 2013 to focus full-time on content production.
In addition to his impressive professional achievements, VanDerKloot has also made significant contributions to the film industry. He was the founding director of the Atlanta Film Festival and has written about filmmaking for prominent publications, including American Cinematographer. He has also served as a board member and past president of the Georgia Production Partnership (GPP),an industry association responsible for creating Georgia's wildly successful film tax incentives.
Throughout his career, VanDerKloot has screened his films and lectured at various institutions, including the University of Florida, Georgia State University, New York Churchillians, Coalition for Quality Children's Programming, and the National WWII Museum.
