William Mishkin was a prominent figure in the New York sex-oriented exploitation film industry during the 1950s and 1960s. His companies, William Mishkin Motion Pictures and Constitution Films, played a crucial role in distributing and financing a wide range of films, including those directed by Gerald Intrator, such as "The Orgy at Lil's Place" (1963) and "The Sexperts: Touched by Temptation" (1965),as well as several films by Andy Milligan that have since been lost.
Mishkin's companies were also major players in the New York burlesque film market during the 1950s, and he was renowned for importing relatively tame European features and rebranding them for US release with sensational titles and provocative advertising campaigns. Despite his conservative leanings, Mishkin's career began to decline as the hardcore pornography market emerged.
In the 1970s, Mishkin's son Lew took over the company, but unfortunately, he was unable to sustain the business and it ultimately went into decline.
