William Lewis is a multifaceted individual with a diverse range of skills and pursuits. He is a writer, producer/director, musician, civil rights advocate, and award-winning independent filmmaker. His film career is characterized by producing patriotic-style documentaries that expose governmental abuse of power and focus on grassroots solutions.
Born and raised in the vibrant city of Shreveport, Louisiana, Lewis began his career in the music industry working with legendary producer Stan Lewis of Jewel Records. During this time, he designed cover art for over 300 music artists, including Nat Stuckey, B.B. King, Ike and Tina Turner, and Jerry Beach. He also worked alongside Anne Stuckey, wife of the late country singer Nat Stuckey, and actor John Fertitta, known for his roles in Mississippi Burning, Blaze, and Delta Heat.
In the 1990s, Lewis developed a state-of-the-art digital video production facility and worked as a music writer and producer. He collaborated with a range of notable figures in the music and film industries, further honing his skills as a creative professional.
In 2001, Lewis began producing American Freedom News, an international radio program that tackled issues surrounding the intrusive nature of global government. He also assisted in creating TruNews, a nationally syndicated television news program that he produced and directed.
As his concerns about the erosion of civil liberties grew, Lewis took his passion for film and music to a new level. In 2003, he founded William Lewis Films, a motion picture production company that has gained international recognition for producing documentaries that expose high-profile criminal transgressions and shed light on international misconceptions.
Lewis has written and/or directed 13 documentaries to date, including award-winning films such as "Beyond Treason" and "Life on the Edge of a Bubble." Some of his notable documentaries include "911 In Plane Site," "One Nation Under Siege," "911 Ripple Effect," "Washington, You're Fired," "Camp FEMA," "Don't Tread On Me," "Enemy of the State," "Blood of Patriots," and "Peddling Influence."
In 2006, Lewis founded Take Back Washington, a website and political movement aimed at peacefully and educationally bringing the politics of Washington D.C. back in line with the country's founding documents. Lewis is committed to continuing his quest for truth and transparency, always seeking out new subjects to expose to citizens around the world.
