William H. Daniels, a renowned American cinematographer, was born on December 1, 1901, and passed away on June 14, 1970. Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, Daniels held the esteemed position of cinematographer for the early films of the visionary director Erich von Stroheim. Furthermore, he collaborated with Greta Garbo on all but three of her films during her illustrious tenure at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Later in his illustrious career, Daniels had the privilege of working on a vast array of notable films, including the critically acclaimed The Shop Around the Corner, released in 1940, and the iconic Harvey, which premiered in 1950. His impressive body of work also includes the cinematic masterpieces Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Ocean's 11, How the West Was Won, and Valley of the Dolls, all of which showcased his exceptional skill and mastery of the craft.
