Person Biography:
Will De Los Santos is a half-Hawaiian, half-Irish American filmmaker, author, and poet. Born to actor, entertainer, and Hawaiian politician Tiki Santos and Kathleen Marie O'Carroll, he is also the grandson of American painter and woodcut artist Herman Haimowitz. Raised by fireman William Raymond Hilbert, De Los Santos has 10 half brothers and sisters.
De Los Santos attended Chaffey High School in Ontario, California, where he was the basketball program's second all-time leading scorer. He was recruited by Gregg Popovich to play basketball at Pitzer College but instead attended Point Loma College in San Diego, California, and later transferred to Eastern Oregon State University, University of La Verne, and University of Oregon.
In 1989, De Los Santos founded The South Ash Press, a poetry/fiction monthly publication in Tempe, Arizona, featuring original works by notable poets and cartoons by drummer Derrick Bostrom. He has lived in Rome, Italy, Marrakech, Morocco, and San Jose, Costa Rica.
De Los Santos wrote the original screenplay for Spun (2002),a film inspired by his experience in the Eugene, Oregon drug subculture. He also wrote the adaptation for the upcoming motion-picture based on Iceberg Slim's novel, Mama Black Widow.
