Biography

Person Biography:

WilGarret, affectionately known as "Mr. G.", was born on April 20, 1938, in Emory, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. Elgie Garrett. He was the eldest son and later followed in the footsteps of his family by leaving home at the age of 14 to support his loved ones.

By the time he was 16, Wil had made his way to California, where he worked odd jobs to make ends meet. At 18, he enlisted in the marines and proudly served his country during the Korean War.

After completing his time in the Marines, Wil returned to his family in Tucson, Arizona, before eventually making his way back to Los Angeles. It was during this time that he met a movie producer at a gas station, which led to a career in acting that spanned five decades.

Wil's impressive resume includes over 100 movies, commercials, and music videos. Some of his notable credits include "Homeless man" in the Soloist, "Old Black Man" in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, "Toby" in the Parkers, "Harry" in Community, "Benny" in Criminal Minds, and music videos such as "Follow Your Arrow" by Kacey Musgraves, "Tanzanite" by Yvonne Sangudi, "Sugar Daddy Santa Claus" by Randy Scott, and "I Know" by Big Sean.

Wil was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elgie Garrett, and several siblings. He is survived by his soulmate, Paula Neal, and her daughter, Tia Taylor; his son, Drew Tank Garrett, and his wife, Elethica; two grandchildren, Camille Everidge and Andrew DeVaughn Garrett; four great-grandchildren, Kalauni Brooks, Kelvin Brooks, Julius Everidge, and Journey Everidge; two sisters, Patsy R. Strong-Hall and Dee Warren; three brothers, Leon Garrett, Anthony Garrett, and Terry Garrett; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.

Wil will be deeply missed, but his memories will be cherished by all who knew him.
