Biography

Werner Pochath, born Werner Pochlatko on September 29, 1939, in Vienna, Austria, was a multi-talented individual who began his journey as a champion skating figure in his youth. He then pursued his passion for acting, studying at the renowned Max Reinhardt Seminar in his native Vienna. Making his stage debut in 1959 with a theatrical production of "Die Courage," Pochath's early beginnings laid the foundation for a remarkable career that would span multiple mediums.

In 1968, Pochath relocated to Rome, Italy, to embark on a film career, which would become a significant chapter in his life. He went on to appear in numerous movies across various genres, including horror, action, Western, and exploitation, often cast as a ruthless and psychopathic villain due to his striking blue eyes and light hair. Moreover, Pochath's versatility extended beyond acting, as he also worked as a casting director and made appearances in a handful of TV shows.

Throughout his career, Pochath remained committed to the stage, continuing to act in productions. His personal life was marked by a long-term partnership with the renowned ballet dancer, director, and choreographer John Neumeier. Tragically, Pochath passed away in Neumeier's arms at the age of 53 on April 18, 1993, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire and fascinate audiences to this day.
