Wayne Bastrup's early life was marked by a quiet, introverted nature, with sports, building tree houses, and reading books being his preferred activities. Acting, however, would eventually become a way for him to overcome his shyness and find emotional expression.
As a young man, Wayne demonstrated a natural aptitude for the arts, discovering that acting, music, drawing, photography, and design were all outlets for his creativity. Although he studied acting, he decided to major in architecture at the University of Washington, where he also taught himself to play the drums. He graduated with a Master's degree in Architecture.
While working as an architect, Wayne continued to pursue his passion for acting, appearing in local independent films and commercials. He also formed a rock band, Gunbunny, and played professionally throughout the West Coast, opening for numerous national acts.
In 2009, Wayne landed a role on TNT's Leverage, alongside Academy Award-winning actor Timothy Hutton. This marked a turning point in his career, and he soon decided to leave his hometown of Seattle and move to Hollywood to pursue acting full-time.
Wayne began training at the prestigious Actors Workshop with RJ Adams and Rob Adams, adopting the 'Meissner' approach to acting. He has since appeared in a wide range of award-winning films and TV shows, including Leverage, Awake, Whitney, CSI: NY, Radio America, and The Mentalist.
Ahead of his role in Paramount Studios' Terminator Genysis, Wayne has also appeared in the upcoming feature film Love and Mercy, directed by Bill Pohlad. He is represented by Scott Vandiver of Spotlight Management.
When not filming or traveling, Wayne enjoys spending time with his family, hiking in the Hollywood Hills with their rescue dog Maple, a Chihuahua-Beagle mix. He is an advocate for animal rights and supports The Humane Society of the United States and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
