English actor Warwick Davis was born in the charming town of Epsom, located in the county of Surrey, England, to parents Susan J. (Pain) and Ashley Davis, an insurance broker. From a young age, Davis was born with the rare condition spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenital (SED),which resulted in his dwarfism. Despite this, he was fortunate enough to receive an education at the prestigious City of London Freemen's School.
As an 11-year-old, Davis's grandmother happened to hear a radio appeal for individuals under four feet tall to participate in the production of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983). Being a massive Star Wars fan, Davis took the opportunity to audition and was successfully cast as an extra, playing the role of an Ewok. Although Kenny Baker was initially cast as lead Ewok Wicket, he fell ill, and George Lucas chose Davis to replace him. The film was a massive hit, and Davis went on to reprise his role as Wicket in further television projects, including The Ewok Adventure (1984) and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (1985).
Davis's next significant role came when a part was specifically written for him as the titular hero in the 1988 film Willow. He continued to experience success with roles in projects such as Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1989) and two distinct film series, the 'Harry Potter' and 'Leprechaun' film series.
In 2006, Davis appeared in a cameo role in Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's hit sitcom Extras (2005),which led to the pair writing a series specifically for Davis, the comic mockumentary Life's Too Short (2011).
In addition to his acting career, Davis is also the director of an acting agency for very short and tall actors, called Willow Management, alongside his father-in-law Peter Burroughs. He is married to Samantha Davis and they have two beautiful children, a son, and a daughter.
