Biography

Noted filmmaker has undergone extensive academic training in the realms of economy and political sciences, complemented by a rigorous program of study at the prestigious Institut des Hautes Etudes Cinematographique (IDHEC) in the City of Light, Paris, France. This well-rounded educational foundation has served as a springboard for a distinguished career in the film industry, marked by a series of esteemed collaborations with visionary directors such as Louis Malle, Jean-Pierre Melville, and Alain Resnais, in which capacity he honed his skills as an assistant director.

In 1973, he co-founded the production company Bioskop Film alongside Reinhard Hauff and Eberhard Junkersdorf, a venture that has enabled him to bring his creative vision to the forefront as a director. His impressive repertoire of work extends to the realm of opera, with notable productions in Frankfurt am Main, Berlin, and Paris, France.

Since 1992, he has occupied the role of chief executive at the renowned German production company Sudio Babelsberg GmbH, formerly known as UFA/DEFA, a position that has afforded him the opportunity to shape the course of the company's operations and leave a lasting impact on the German film industry.
