Vivica A. Fox, born on July 30, 1964, in South Bend, Indiana, is the daughter of Everlyena, a pharmaceutical technician, and William Fox, a private school administrator. With a rich heritage of Native American and African-American descent, Vivica proudly celebrates her roots.
Growing up in Indianapolis, Indiana, she attended Arlington High School and later moved to California to pursue higher education. Vivica earned an Associate Art degree in Social Sciences from Golden West College.
Vivica's professional acting career began with soap operas, including Generations, Days of Our Lives, and The Young and the Restless. She also appeared in the NBC-TV series Out All Night, playing the role of Charisse Chamberlain, the fashion designer daughter of Patti LaBelle.
Her breakthrough role came with the film Independence Day (1996),alongside Will Smith, and Set It Off (1996). Vivica's portrayal of Maxine in the 1997 motion picture Soul Food earned her MTV Movie Award and NAACP Image Award nominations.
In 2000, she was cast in the medical drama City of Angels, playing the role of Dr. Lillian Price. Vivica has since appeared in numerous films, including Teaching Mrs. Tingle, Two Can Play That Game, and Kill Bill: Vol. 1.
In 2004, Vivica took part in an episode of Punk'd, where her pregnant friend pretended to go into labor, but became upset when a paramedic appeared more concerned with taking pictures than delivering the baby. She also starred in the drama series 1-800-Missing on the Lifetime Television Network from 2004 to 2006.
In 2007, Vivica was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars and remained on the show until she was voted off in the fourth week.
In her personal life, Vivica married singer Christopher Harvest (aka Sixx-Nine) in 1998, but they divorced in June 2002. She also had a brief relationship with rapper 50 Cent.
