Biography

North Carolina native Virginia began her illustrious career as a dancer, alongside her sister Frances, in the Paxton Sisters. Her remarkable talent soon caught the attention of Darryl F. Zanuck, who discovered her performing on Broadway and subsequently signed her to a contract with 20th Century Fox.

After a few films, Virginia made the transition to MGM, where she starred alongside Clark Gable in the iconic film "Idiots Delight". She also played the legendary Annie Oakley in "The Kid From Texas". Her impressive resume continued to grow as she briefly worked with Columbia Pictures, co-starring in "Start Cheering" alongside the iconic Jimmy Durante.

Virginia's career reached new heights when she joined Paramount Pictures, where she remained for an impressive five years. During this time, she appeared in a string of successful films, including "Holiday Inn" with Bing Crosby, "Kiss The Boys Goodbye", "Las Vegas Nights", and "All the Women Have Secrets".

As the decades passed, Virginia transitioned to television, making memorable appearances in shows such as "Annie Oakley", "Wyatt Earp", "Day in Court", "North and South", and "His Mistress" in 1984. This marked the end of her illustrious acting career, which spanned over four decades.

Sadly, Virginia passed away on October 3, 1994, due to complications from emphysema. She was survived by her loving husband and son, leaving behind a legacy of unforgettable performances that continue to captivate audiences to this day.
