Biography

Victoria Hamilton is an English actress who has had a distinguished career in classical theatre, television, and film. After completing her training at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Hamilton began her career in the early 1990s, appearing in various productions with the esteemed Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre.

One of her notable stage performances was in the 2002 London production of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, where she shared the stage with renowned actors Clive Owen and Eddie Izzard. When the production transferred to Broadway in 2003, Hamilton made her debut on the Great White Way, earning a Tony Award nomination for her outstanding performance.

Hamilton's impressive work in the theatre was recognized with several awards, including the Critics' Circle Theatre Award and the Evening Standard Theatre Award, both of which she received for her performance in the 2004 production of Suddenly, Last Summer at the Lyceum Theatre.

In addition to her work in classical theatre, Hamilton has also made a name for herself in the costume drama genre. During the 1990s, she appeared in three Jane Austen adaptations, including the 1995 serial Pride and Prejudice, the 1995 film Persuasion, and the 1999 film Mansfield Park.

Hamilton's portrayal of Queen Victoria in the 2001 television production Victoria & Albert showcased her impressive range and versatility as an actress. She later became a cast member in the BBC1 series Lark Rise to Candleford from 2008 to 2011.

In more recent years, Hamilton has continued to impress audiences with her nuanced performances. From 2016 to 2017, she played the role of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in the Netflix historical drama series The Crown, further solidifying her reputation as a talented and accomplished actress.
