Victor Bumbalo is a renowned playwright, whose works have garnered international recognition and acclaim. He is the proud recipient of the prestigious Ingram Merrill Award for playwriting, a testament to his exceptional skill and artistry.
Bumbalo's play, Questa, was a finalist for the 2007 Lambda Literary Award and again for the 2008 award for Niagara Falls. The latter, Niagara Falls, enjoyed a successful Off-Broadway run, followed by productions in over 50 cities across the United States, England, and Australia.
Adan and the Experts received critical acclaim Off-Broadway and has since been staged numerous times in the United States and Canada. What Are Tuesdays Like?, featured at The Carnegie Mellon Showcase of New Plays and the Contemporary American Theater Festival, has also been performed in Germany, Japan, England, Sweden, and Costa Rica, in addition to its extensive tour throughout the United States.
Questra premiered in Los Angeles, starring Wendie Malick, Dan Lauria, and Dorian Harewood, with David Milch serving as producer. The play has since been produced in New York, Chicago, and St. Petersburg, Florida.
The majority of Bumbalo's plays are published by Broadway Play Publishing Inc. Tell appears in the anthology Gay and Lesbian Plays Today, published by Heinemann Educational Books Inc., and Show is included in The Best American Short Plays, published by Applause Theatre Book Publishers.
In addition to his work in playwriting, Bumbalo has also contributed to several popular television series, including NYPD Blue, American Gothic, Relativity, and HBO's Spawn. He has also written episodes for the Nickelodeon show Wow Wow Wubbzy, in collaboration with Ray Shenusay.
Furthermore, Bumbalo is the founder and president of the Robert Chesley Foundation, a testament to his commitment to promoting and supporting the arts.
