Vera Bergman, a talented actress, entered the world on February 16, 1920, in Berlin, Germany, as the daughter of Carl Bergmann, a prominent banker and diplomat. Her early life was marked by a strong foundation in the performing arts, as she received her training at the renowned theater school of Max Reinhardt. Bergman's skills were soon showcased at the esteemed Deutsches Theater Berlin, where she became a valued member of the ensemble. Following a feature film appearance in Germany, "Es leuchten die Sterne" (1938),Bergman made the bold decision to relocate to Rome, Italy, in search of new opportunities.
It was in 1939 that Bergman's impressive audition for Vittorio De Sica caught the attention of the director, ultimately leading to her selection for the pivotal role of L'insegnate Elisa Malgari in the film "Maddalena... zero in condotta" (1940). Despite her young age at the time, Bergman's talent and dedication earned her a spot in the Italian film scene. She went on to appear in a total of 15 feature films between 1940 and 1954, solidifying her status as a respected and accomplished actress in Italy.
