Varon Bonicos, a multifaceted creative force, was born on May 18, 1974, in the United Kingdom, to the late film editor Douglas Bonicos. His journey in the film industry began at the tender age of 16, when he started working as a runner for a film editing company.
As a versatile individual, Bonicos worked simultaneously as an editor and director for several years, during which time he collaborated on various projects. He worked on TV documentaries for Royal Dutch Shell and Sky television, including a TV film about Queen Elizabeth II. His portfolio also includes art installations for the Arts Council of Great Britain, Design Museum in London, commercials, and music videos.
Bonicos's first documentary feature film, "A Man's Story," was a labor of love, shot over a 12-year period, focusing on the daily life of men's fashion designer Ozwald Boateng. Filmed single-handedly, Bonicos drew inspiration from the style of Cinéma vérité, influenced by Dziga Vertov's Kino-Pravda. The film was released in cinemas in the UK and USA in late 2012 and went on to be showcased at major film festivals worldwide.
In addition to his documentary work, Bonicos collaborated with Ben Silverman and Robert Redford to create the hit USA prime-time TV series "House of Boateng" for The Sundance Channel and Viacom network.
