Valery Lessard, a talented individual, was born in the vibrant city of Montreal, Québec. Her fascination with the arts began at a remarkably young age, with dance classes commencing at just three years old and singing lessons starting when she was ten. Not to be overlooked, she also dabbled in piano lessons for a brief four-year period. As a young student, she showcased her passion for the performing arts by participating in theater troupes in elementary school and later, in high school, actively taking part in improv acting groups.
As she entered CEGEP, Valery's interest in theater, arts, and literature led her to enroll in her program of choice at Brébeuf college. During this time, she began exploring the world of modeling and talent agencies, eventually selecting Scoop Agency. Through this agency, she was referred to Jacqueline McClintock's exclusive Meisner Technique classes, a by-referral-only program for Montreal actors. This opportunity allowed her to work alongside and learn from fellow talented actors, including Meaghan Rath, Brittany Drisdelle, and Jordan Officer.
In her final year of CEGEP, Valery took private lessons with the renowned Québec acting star, Rita Lafontaine. After completing her education in Montreal, she decided to further her acting studies by relocating to New York. Her teacher's suggestion led her to enroll in the Neighbourhood Playhouse's 2-year professional training program. During her time at the Playhouse, Valery was taught by esteemed instructors such as Ron Stenson, a protégé of Stanford Meisner himself, Richard Pinter, and Gary Kingston. She also honed her skills in singing with Ron Shetler, dance with Christine Dakin, a protégé of Martha Graham, English diction with Gary Ramsey and Kathleen Kelly, and stage fighting with Rick Sordelet.
