Valerie Gearon, a captivating English actress of the 1950s, began her illustrious career as an ingénue at the Windsor Repertory Theatre, following a stint working for the BBC drama department. Renowned for her striking hazel eyes and sophisticated demeanor, she was crowned "Miss Galaxy" and ventured to Hollywood in 1954 with lofty aspirations for stardom and financial success.
Despite initially being unsuccessful in her audition for the female lead in Bhowani Junction (1956),which ultimately went to the renowned Ava Gardner, Gearon's perseverance paid off when she was signed as a Columbia starlet the following year. She then landed the female lead in the Glenn Ford western Jubal (1956),marking a significant milestone in her career.
Gearon's subsequent roles included appearances alongside Lee J. Cobb in The Garment Jungle (1957),as well as starring in two other westerns, Decision at Sundown (1957) and The Hard Man (1957). She also appeared in the science fiction film C-grader The 27th Day (1957).
Following her early success in Hollywood, Gearon divided her time between television work in the United States and stage performances, both on and off-Broadway. Her notable Broadway credits include "Inadmissible Evidence" (1965) and "A Taste of Honey" (1981).
Gearon's personal life was marked by two marriages, first to actor, writer, and producer Michael Pertwee, and later to actor Thayer David. Her career continued to flourish, with a notable appearance in 1969 when she appeared nude in the production "The Mother Lover" at the Booth Theater, albeit with her back to the audience.
