Biography

Ursula Meyer, a highly accomplished individual, currently serves as the head of graduate acting at the University of California, San Diego. Her academic journey commenced with distinction from the Advanced Voice Studies Program at the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where she was fortunate to be mentored by the renowned David Carey.

Prior to her tenure at UCSD, Meyer honed her teaching skills at various esteemed institutions, including the University of California, Santa Barbara, University of California, Santa Cruz, University of Washington, and the Yale School of Drama, where she spent four years as the primary voice teacher.

As a professional Voice/Text and Accent Coach, Meyer has had the privilege of collaborating with numerous regional theatres, such as the Guthrie Theatre, South Coast Rep, Yale Rep, the La Jolla Playhouse, the Old Globe in San Diego, the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington D.C., and the Idaho, Santa Cruz, Utah, and Oregon Shakespeare Festivals, a relationship that has spanned over three decades, dating back to 1985.

In addition to her coaching work, Meyer has also had a successful career as a professional actress, with extensive experience in regional theatre, including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, A.C.T. Seattle, Seattle Rep, Milwaukee Rep, and the La Jolla Playhouse.
