Biography

Tuulikki Paananen, a Finnish-American actress, left a lasting impact on the film industry despite her relatively short career. Born to a father who was a renowned Finnish concert violinist and a mother, an accomplished pianist from Michigan, USA, where the Finnish population was substantial. The family relocated to Finland at birth, but returned to the United States in 1919. Tuulikki spent the next 16 years in the USA, until she made the decision to return to Finland in 1935, where she starred in several notable films of the era, including "Jääkärinmorsian" and "Varastettu kuolema".

However, with World War II reaching Finland in 1940, Tuulikki made the difficult decision to relocate back to the United States, this time under the stage name "Tula Parma". She continued to work in Hollywood, albeit in smaller roles, until she secured her most notable part in Jacques Tourneur's "The Leopard Man" in 1943. Following this, Tuulikki returned to her first passion, dancing, and opened a dance studio, where she not only taught but also performed herself.

Later in life, Tuulikki relocated to Honolulu, where she resided until her passing in 1974.
