Troy Melton, a talented stuntman and actor, was born on March 2, 1921, in Jackson, Tennessee, a city located in the southwestern part of the state. The early years of Melton's life were marked by a significant event, as his family decided to migrate to Los Angeles, California, during the tumultuous period of the Great Depression. This monumental decision would ultimately shape the course of Melton's life and career.

Following his service in the Army Air Corps during World War II, Melton returned to Los Angeles and embarked on a journey to establish himself in the entertainment industry. Initially, he found sporadic work as an actor, but it was his career as a stuntman that would truly take off in the late 1940s. Melton's impressive skills and dedication to his craft earned him a reputation as a master stuntman, and he went on to become one of the founding members of the Stuntmen's Association of Motion Pictures.

Throughout his illustrious career, which spanned over forty years, Melton had the privilege of doubling for some of the most renowned actors of his time, including Roy Rogers, Kent Taylor, Gregory Walcott, Richard Webb, and Duncan Renaldo.
